Chrysalis Awards Coming in April

The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) and the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce will host the ninth annual Celebration of Business & Tourism Chrysalis Awards Luncheon and Trade Show from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 19 at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village. The Chrysalis Awards represent an ongoing partnership between the business and tourism communities. The awards ceremony is designed to foster a stronger alliance between the tourism industry and the county’s business community. The event is part of the VCB’s year-round Team Tourism program, which recognizes the value of tourism and community teamwork in maintaining and enhancing tourism as a major economic engine for Lee County. At the luncheon, six Chrysalis award recipients will be announced. The awards will be in six categories: Business Development, Cultural Achievement, Education, Business Tourism Leader, Eco Innovation, and Sales & Marketing. A panel of local business and community leaders judge the nominations and select one award recipient for each category. General admission is $45. Nygaard Named Lee Health's COO

Scott Nygaard, M.D., has been promoted to chief operating officer for Lee Health. Nygaard will be responsible for all clinical operations throughout the health system, including all hospitals and ambulatory, post-acute and ancillary services. Nygaard joined Lee Health in 2010 as the chief medical officer for Lee Physician Group. While in that role, he aligned the management structure across all employed physicians and developed a cohesive Lee Physician Group brand. He also helped initiate the Florida State University College of Medicine Family Medicine Residency Program at Lee Health to address the shortage of primary care physicians in the community. Nygaard also successfully redesigned the hospitalist medicine program to achieve an integrated approach across the health system’s hospital campuses. Nygaard earned his medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He completed an internal medicine residency and a pulmonary and critical care residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Dr. Nygaard also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis.

NeoGenomics Appoints Executives

NeoGenomics, Inc. has appointed George Cardoza as president of the pharma services division and Sharon Virag as chief financial officer. Virag will succeed George Cardoza, who has served as chief financial officer since 2009. Her appointment is effective on March 27. Virag was formerly vice president, corporate finance and chief accounting officer, at Aetna, a Fortune 50 diversified healthcare benefits company. In this role, she was responsible for controllership, tax, treasury, finance transformation and finance shared services from 2015 to 2017. Cardoza's role is a newly created position. In the fourth quarter of 2017, the pharma services division reported revenue growth of 69 percent to $8.7 million with a record number of new contracts signed. The division is adding resources and capacity, including a new lab in Rolle, Switzerland, to meet the growing demand for its services.

RSW Has Record-Breaking February Traffic

During February, more than 1.053 million passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, an increase of 11.4 percent compared to February 2017. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 9.8 percent from the same period last year. The traffic leader in February was Southwest Airlines with 201,448 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Delta Air Lines (188,229), American (138,916), Spirit (132,867) and JetBlue (115,374). Southwest Florida International Airport had 9,190 aircraft operations, an increase of 7 percent compared to February 2017. Page Field saw 8,451 operations, a 16.7 percent decrease from February 2017. In addition, more than 2.6 million pounds of air freight moved through Southwest Florida International Airport in February 2018. Southwest Florida International Airport served more than 8.8 million passengers in 2017 and is one of the top 50 U.S. airports for passenger traffic. NABOR Report: February Sales Increase, Prices Drop

Buyer interest in homes over $1 million in Naples continued to climb during February as overall closed sales increased 10 percent to 672 homes sold compared with 613 homes sold in February 2017, according to the February 2018 Market Report released by the Naples Area Board of REALTORS® (NABOR®), which tracks home listings and sales within Collier County (excluding Marco Island). The median closed price within each of the five price categories tracked by NABOR decreased. The greatest decrease appeared in the $1 million to $2 million price category, which reflected a 12 percent drop to $1.326 million from $1.5 million in February 2017.
