Joshua O. Dorcey founded the Dorcey Law Firm in 2007 and is the firm’s managing partner. Though he’s licensed to practice law in both Florida and Alabama — focusing on estate planning and transactional law — Dorcey says he finds his guiding principles closer to home.
“My family homesteaded here in 1913, and I am the fourth generation of my family living in Lee County,” he says. “The values handed down to me from my parents have guided me as I’ve assembled my team of professionals to serve the clients of the Dorcey Law Firm.”
Something Dorcey holds dear to his heart is philanthropy in the local community. He volunteers his time and resources to help those charities that benefit the children of Southwest Florida.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
No matter what you find yourself doing, strive to be the best, but don’t forget that you can’t get there on your own. You will only be as good as your team, so when picking your team don’t get lost in accolades, previous job titles, levels of education or what school someone attended.
