Travel Channel veteran Samantha Brown is planning a return visit to Southwest Florida next month to shoot a new episode for her PBS travel series “Places to Love.” Producer-Director Sylvia Caminer, who won a Daytime Emmy last year for “Samantha Brown’s Places to Love,” was in Fort Myers and Sanibel-Captiva this week to scout locations for the show, said Jackie Parker, communications manager for the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau. Caminer was really impressed with the Edison-Ford Winter Estates, so Parker thinks that will be a strong contender for one of the segments. The four-day shoot will be in mid-November for a show that is targeted to air in spring 2021. Brown’s local visit is a collaborative effort with the public relations and marketing teams at the Visitor & Convention Bureau, said Brian Ososky, the bureau’s director of marketing. “We’re excited to be working with her and her team and she is excited as well,” Ososky says during the agency’s Tourism Outlook 2021 live presentation Thursday. In a prerecorded video, Brown spoke directly to viewers about coming here: “I cannot wait to experience the white sand beaches, the islands, the seashells, the seafood. I haven’t seen that or eaten that in like six months,” she says. “Of course, I’ve traveled just about my entire career. I’ve spent a lot of time in coastal communities, but there’s something really special happening in Southwest Florida and I just can’t wait to share that with my viewers, who will no doubt make this a place to love and a place to visit.” During a Season 2 visit in May 2018 for “Places to Love,” Brown visited many locations on the Paradise Coast from Naples beaches to the Everglades. As part of that half-hour TV show, she enthusiastically experienced boat rides, grouper sandwiches, craft cocktails, local music, wildlife and sunsets.
