The current economic climate and high cost of living have made it difficult for many Americans to meet their financial obligations, forcing them to take on additional work to stay afloat, according to a report from online insurance comparison marketplace Insuranks. The report found 9 in 10 Americans currently work a second job. And 55% say they need the additional income to support themselves financially, making an average of $777 per month extra from their second job. In addition, Americans work their side hustles an average of 15 hours per week, with the top side hustles being driving for a rideshare app, selling items/handmade products online, freelance writing and selling used clothing. One in five plan to make their side hustle into a full-time job within the next five years.
