Town of Fort Myers Beach was awarded $13 million for recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian. On Sept. 3, town officials were notified that applications submitted to the Lee County Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Infrastructure and Public Facilities Programs were approved for $13,018,597. These programs are part of the overall U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funding award to Lee County in the amount of $1.1 billion. Funding will support North (West) Island Water Tower and Facility and Parks and Recreation projects. The Parks and Recreation projects include Old San Carlos and Time Square Lighting Projects, Bay Oaks Community Pool Project and Newton Park Beach Facility.
