Lee County asked residents who live along Estero Boulevard and Hickory Boulevard to stop placing sand in the right of way as of Oct. 31 while the county’s debris removal contractor shifts focus to residential debris cleanup Nov. 1. The county plans to return to make a final pass for sand placed in the right of way once residential debris is removed from the two main county roads — Estero Boulevard in Fort Myers Beach and Hickory Boulevard in Bonita Springs. The county will announce a date for a final pass for sand collection in November. Sand removal operations in Boca Grande are expected to continue during this time. Captiva residents can expect sand removal operations to begin next week.
