City of Fort Myers residents approved Nov. 5 an up to $75 million general obligation bond referendum on the general election ballot. This referendum provides the city with funds to finance proposed parks and recreation improvements and land acquisition for new green space. To execute the vision of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan, and with more than 67% voter approval, Fort Myers can move ahead with the planning and design of improvements and new construction across 18 proposed parks and facilities equitably over a 10-year period. City officials said the framework for the master plan is focused on goals to revitalize, connect, expand and invest in recreational spaces.
