Bowland on Harbor Boulevard in Port Charlotte has been sold to New York-based Bowl 360, which will continue to operate it as a bowling center with plans to upgrade the facility with modern, state-of-the-art technology and entertainment.
Terms of the sale of the popular entertainment hub that has been open for six decades weren’t disclosed. The present owners, Pat and Lisa Ciniello, took over Bowland in 2003. Their son Marc is the vice president of operations.
Over the years, Bowland underwent several upgrades and repairs from storms, particularly Hurricane Ian, said company employee Mary McDonald, who heads the call center for the family businesses and, at one time, managed Bowland.
Bowland hosted special events, including New Year’s Eve parties, bowling leagues and birthday parties. Its Nemo’s restaurant and arcade and virtual reality games were popular with people of all ages.
Founder Pat Ciniello, who’s owned bowling centers in Southwest Florida for 45 years, said the sale is the latest move in transitioning his family’s business operations to focus on their new venture — FastTrax, featuring Florida’s largest indoor go-kart track, some 100 arcade games, duck pin bowling and food and beverage options.
FastTrax will be located next to their HeadPinz bowling center in south Fort Myers, near Southwest Florida International Airport. The Ciniellos will continue to operate their HeadPinz bowling center in East Naples, but the Bowland brand is being “retired,” Ciniello said.
“We have made many lifelong friends here over the years,” Ciniello said. “While selling something you’ve worked so hard to build is never easy, I’m thrilled that the center will remain a hub for entertainment and bowling fun for the Charlotte community.”
Bowl 360 Group officials said the company vows that much like Bowland, it will continue to provide a safe and welcoming atmosphere for all ages.
The Ciniellos own the Nemo’s brand, so Bowl 360’s restaurant will be renamed.
Now, the Ciniellos are looking forward to their next chapter.
“We can’t wait to open FastTrax, as we know there’s a tremendous demand for this style of cutting-edge fun,” said Ciniello. “So, while the Bowland brand fades into the history books, our company is far from hanging things up. We are so excited for the future of the HeadPinz and FastTrax entertainment centers.”
