PGD YEAR-END PASSENGER TRAFFIC UP

The Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA) has announced the Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) passenger count for 2018 totaled 1.577 million. This is a 21.95 percent increase in passenger traffic for 2018 compared with 1.293 million total passengers in 2017. The total passenger count for December was 131,423. There were 62,617 boarding passengers and 68,806 arriving passengers, a 2.36 percent increase over December 2017. The total annual passenger count has continued to increase each year.

In 2019, the CCAA will continue working toward the rehabilitation and expansion of Runways 15-33 and 14-22, and will break ground on a new General Aviation Center off Challenger Road at the north end of the airport. For more information, visit www.flypgd.com.

IMA CHAPTER MEETING TO ADDRESS 2019 OUTLOOK

The next Institute of Management Accounts (IMA), Southwest Florida Chapter Breakfast Roundtable will be held from 7:30-9 a.m. on Jan. 16 at the Northern Trust building in Naples. Guest speaker Andy Hill, president and co-founder of Andrew Hill Investment Advisors Inc., will address “Outlook 2019: National and Regional Economic and Capital Markets.”

This free presentation will include projections for the U.S. economy and stock market performance over the next year as well as trends affecting the Southwest Florida region. A networking session and continental breakfast are also included. Accountants and financial professionals in business are encouraged to attend and may earn two Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits. SHRM SWFL 2019 BOARD ANNOUNCED

SHRM of Southwest Florida, the local chapter of the national Society for Human Resource Management, has appointed its new board of directors for 2019. ABWA CHAPTER MEETING UPCOMING

The ABWA Neapolitan Chapter will host its next monthly meeting from 6-7:45 p.m. on Jan. 22 at the Hilton Naples. A meet-and-greet will be held from 5:15-5:55 p.m. in the lobby.

Aysegul Timur, senior vice president of academic affairs and dean of the Johnson School of Business at Hodges University, will present “Demographic and Economic Indicators of Collier County: Past, Present, and Future” during the meeting. The presentation will include the growth trend of Collier County as well as demographic and economic trends for past, present, and future.

CHANG JOINS FREY & SON HOMES

Frey & Son Homes has hired Jason Chang as the new sales director for Collier County. With more than 16 years of sales and marketing experience, he will be responsible for guiding a team of professionals as they sell custom luxury homes in Naples and Bonita Springs, as well as on Marco Island, and setting 2019 sales goals and quotas.

Chang started his career as a sales executive, selling models at Grandezza in Estero on behalf of Jack Parker Homes. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Global Management, and a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Florida Gulf Coast University, where he graduated summa cum laude. Chang previously moved to China and prospected new investment opportunities on behalf of Jones Lang LaSalle Inc. for multinational Fortune 500 customers and then developed new North American solar projects back in the U.S.

Upon returning to Southwest Florida, Chang worked as a sales executive for D.R. Horton and earned Sales Person of the Year for more than $29 million in sales. Prior to joining Frey & Son Homes, he was PulteGroup’s National Sales Person of the Year in 2004, as well as one of Mattamy Homes’ top three salespeople in the nation in 2017.

BODINE PERRY ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS

Bodine Perry, a national accounting firm with offices in Ohio and Naples, has promoted multiple team members. Among them is Dyam Sanchez, who has been promoted to senior manager of the Naples office.

Sanchez joined the Bodine Perry team in 2017 as a manager and serves as a member of the firm's tax team, specializing in IRS representation. For more than eight years, Sanchez worked as an internal revenue agent for the small business and self-employed division of the IRS, and audited all types of federal income tax returns to determine compliance.

HOPE FOR HAITI LAUNCHES NEW LOGO, WEBSITE

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, Hope for Haiti launched a new logo and website. The new Hope for Haiti logo is a tribute to the Haitian people and the country’s rich and diverse history. The blue and red colors mirror the Haitian flag, while paying tribute to the colors used in Hope for Haiti’s original logo.

The logo is also symbolic of learning and continuous growth and serves as a reminder that the whole of the organization is much greater than the sum of its parts, a press release states. The Phoenix, Arizona-based marketing firm BIG YAM supported Hope for Haiti in developing its new logo, and the web design firm FreshSparks, also located in Phoenix, helped design Hope for Haiti’s new website.

‘Give Where You Live Collier’ to return in February

The Community Foundation of Collier County has partnered, once again, with the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation to host the fifth annual giving day in Collier County. “Give Where You Live Collier” will begin at noon on Feb. 20 and end at noon on Feb. 21. The event is an effort to give 40 Collier County basic needs and education non-profits a boost with donations, a $400,000 matching fund from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, and a $100,000 match from the Community Foundation. A new twist this year is the addition of ten $5,000 prizes available to the participating nonprofits, also provided by the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation.
