LCEC Provides Six Funding Awards

LCEC announced that it will provide the City of Sanibel, the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW), Coastal Keepers, the Calusa Land Trust and Nature Preserve of Pine Island Inc., the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum, and the Monofilament Busters with environmental funding awards. Nearly $79,500 has been awarded since the program’s inception in 2014. To apply for this award, organizations can email pr@lcec.net to receive an application. The next deadline for a 2018 award is Sept. 1. Interested organizations must meet certain criteria to be considered for the award, including being located within LCEC service territory, funding utilized for projects/programs related to the environment and the utility industry, and having a demonstrated need for funds.

REPORT: Median Home Price Unaffordable to Average Wage Earns in SWFL

The median home prices in Lee, Collier and Charlotte counties are not affordable to the average wage earners who live there, according to the Q1 2018 U.S. Home Affordability Report by ATTOM Data Solutions. The year-over-year percentage in affordability decreased by 10 percent in Lee County, where annual income needed to buy a median-priced home is $62,283, the report states; 9 percent in Charlotte County, where the annual income needed to buy is $50,423; and 5 percent in Collier County, where the annual income needed to buy is $90,096. Annualized average weekly wages amounted to $37,271 in Charlotte County, $43,108 in Lee County, and $45,773 in Collier County. To view the full report, click here.

Herc Holdings CFO Retires

Barbara L. Brassier, senior vice president and CFO of Herc Holdings Inc. has announced her retirement, effective April 30. The company has commenced a search process to identify its next CFO. Mark Humphrey, vice president, controller and chief accounting officer, will serve as the company’s interim CFO. Humphrey has served as the company’s vice president, controller and chief accounting officer since April 2017 and will continue to serve in those roles in addition to assuming the duties of interim CFO. Prior to joining the company, Humphrey served as CFO of Alice from June 2011 through June 2015, as well as Alice’s chief accounting officer prior to joining Her Holdings. Humphrey’s previous experience included roles as the CFO for The Compass Management Group, LLC, from 2009 until June 2011 and in senior financial roles with Source Interlink Cos. from 2004 until 2009. He began his career in public accounting with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Pure Florida is expanding its operation to the newly renovated Naples City Docks after the completion of a $6.5 million upgrade. Face Diversity Summit Debuts April 5

D’Latinos and Gulfshore Business magazines will host their inaugural Face Diversity Summit, an all-day schedule of seminars and discussions that will focus on diversity and how it contributes to successful business practices and employee well-being. It will be held April 5 at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs. Topics will include recruitment, human resources, marketing, sales and work visas. Participants in the summit will include executives and experts from national and local firms. Companies and organizations represented will include Pandora, Lee Health, Barron Collier Cos., Goodwill Industries of SWFL and more. The magazines will also hold the Face Awards luncheon, presented by title sponsor Fifth Third Bank.
