The Bakery at Grappino launched Sept. 11 in the same building as Grappino restaurant on U.S. 41 in Naples. Both hospitality ventures are operated by the Aielli Group, which also owns the Sea Salt, Barbatella and Dorona restaurants in Naples.

“We believe that the new Bakery at Grappino is the perfect addition to our restaurants. We felt that the bakery could fill a gap in our offering, making it possible for our community to enjoy an authentic, high-quality European-inspired bakery and breakfast spot in Naples,” said Ingrid Aielli, who co-owns the Naples-based Aielli Group with her husband, Chef Fabrizio Aielli.

Their new European-inspired bakery, which opened in the former location of La Colmar Bakery & Bistro at 90 Ninth St. N., serves breakfast and lunch daily 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Authentic Italian coffee and espresso drinks are served throughout the day with smoothies, juices and ginger shots.

Breakfast items include morning classics, such as eggs Benedict, quiches, omelets, paninis and breakfast sandwiches. The lunch menu, available 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., features pasta dishes, sandwiches and pizza options.

The Aiellis promise an authentic European experience with high-quality Italian ingredients and bread for sandwiches freshly baked in-house. European bread favorites available include focaccia, ciabatta, brioche, baguettes and olive rosemary bread, complemented by a variety of pastries and desserts, such as cannolis, bomboloni Italian doughnuts and sfogliatella.

In addition to its breakfast and lunch menus, the bakery serves as the in-house pasta production hub for all of the Aielli Group’s restaurants in Naples. Customers also can purchase freshly made pasta to take home with a variety of house-made sauces specially crafted to accompany the pasta.

The Aiellis launched their Grappino Italian restaurant in early 2020 in the former space of Timeless, a restaurant that operated for two years next to La Colmar bakery and across from Wynn’s Market. They leased the additional 3,638 square feet of restaurant space and a 223-square-foot patio adjoining Grappino when the bakery unit became available. La Colmar, launched there in 2017 by Ana and Yannick Brendel, permanently closed last year.

The Aiellis’ Grappino restaurant remains open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Grappino’s offerings include Roman-style pizza, salt-roasted chicken and a selection of grappa, grape-based pomace brandy that inspired the restaurant’s name. Its Il Grano menu section allows diners to create their own lunch or dinner entreée combinations from separately priced lists of pastas, sauces and preparation options.
