Allegiant Air will add a route to Savannah, Georgia, from Punta Gorda Airport starting Nov.14.

Las Vegas-based Allegiant Travel Co. announced eight new nonstop routes to 13 U.S. cities in all, but Savannah will be the only new route to and from PGD.

Passengers departing PGD will fly into Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. Charlotte County Airport Authority Director of Marketing and Communications Kaley Miller said the route will be year-round.

“Allegiant’s new Savannah route is an exciting addition for PGD,” said James W. Parish, CEO of Punta Gorda Airport and the airport authority. “It will be a convenient route for both Southwest Floridians and Georgians to explore each region’s historic downtowns, coastal beaches and outdoor activities.”

The new routes will launch in November, providing air service to popular vacation destinations and at a seasonal time of high demand, Allegiant officials said. The company also owns Sunseeker Resort Charlotte Harbor.

“The addition of new routes is a testament to the success of our existing service in these communities,” said Allegiant Chief Revenue Officer Drew Wells. “Our network planning team is responsive to consumer demand, constantly looking for opportunities to enhance the leisure travel experience. The new service kicks off just in time to plan warm winter getaways to sought-after coastal destinations.”
