Tourism to the Sunshine State has bounced back to pre-COVID-19 levels. More than 137 million visitors came to Florida last year, which is up about 5% compared to 2019, according to VISIT Florida Research.
The majority of visitors (about 93%) come from elsewhere in the United States; New York and Georgia are typically the top two points of origin. Internationally, close to 2.8 million Canadians come each year, which makes up about 30% of the foreign market. South American visitors make up about one-fourth of international visitors.
While tourism remains strong in Florida, that’s largely because of increased domestic travel; the number of international visitors still hasn’t surpassed pre-pandemic numbers.
