Tennessee-headquartered Community Health Systems finalized on March 1 the $260 million sale of the 254-bed ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte and certain assets of the 208-bed ShorePoint Health Punta Gorda to Altamonte Springs-based nonprofit health care system AdventHealth. Due to the effects of hurricanes Helene and Milton, Community Health Systems permanently closed the Punta Gorda hospital. AdventHealth officials said the company plans to work with the Punta Gorda community to assess its needs and determine the best way to care for its residents. The transaction included related businesses, including physician clinic operations, outpatient services and ShorePoint Health Emergency Department in Cape Coral.
