Florida’s average gas price nearly dropped below the $3 a gallon threshold last week. The state average sank to $3.01 per gallon Nov. 4. From there, gas prices rose an average of 14 cents. The state average peaked mid-week at $3.15 per gallon, then moved lower through the weekend before settling at $3.07 per gallon Nov. 12, according to data from AAA. Crude oil prices were relatively flat last week. The price for U.S. crude oil settled at $70.38 per barrel, 89 cents more than a week ago. In Southwest Florida on Nov. 12, Charlotte County had the lowest average price at $3.05 per gallon, followed by Lee County ($3.06) and Collier County ($3.16).
