Sporting goods and outdoor recreation retailer Academy Sports + Outdoors plans to open a new store in the fall at 9331 Ben C Pratt Six Mile Cypress Parkway in south Fort Myers, company officials announced. It is part of a plan to open nine new stores in Alabama, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and West Virginia in the fall. The retailer has already opened three new stores this year, with plans to open 15 to 17 new stores in fiscal year 2024. Academy offers apparel, footwear, sports and camping equipment, hunting and fishing gear and outdoor cooking, as well as free services such as grill and bike assembly, scope mounting, bore sighting, line winding/spooling and propane exchange. Hunting and fishing licenses also are available to purchase in stores.
