Jack Mayher unveiled the Compass Rose Marina project that will include a boat storage facility capable of withstanding 200 mph winds and flood waters, another marina and eventually retail shops, condos and townhomes near the Matanzas Pass Bridge on San Carlos Island during a recent anchor-setting event. The anchors replaced the traditional shovels at the event, symbolizing the start of the first phase of the project, the boat storage facility. It is expected to take about a year to complete and store 286 boats up to 50 feet in length and also consist of 29 wet slips. Just across the road will be RYCO Marine, which will be working with Compass Rose Marina. The next phases of the project include 30,000 square feet of retail, office and mini-storage space. Also proposed is 20,000 square feet of civic space, a ship’s store, a restaurant, 75 residential condos and 15 townhomes.
