The new city of Fort Myers budget for fiscal year 2024-25, beginning on Oct. 1, was adopted with a millage rate of 6.5255. This was reduced from this year’s rate of 6.6999, the ninth consecutive year of millage rate reductions. City officials said the approved budget of $662,583,964 strikes a balance between the revenues projected to be collected and expenditures to ensure continued delivery of essential city services while commencing a five-year capital improvement program for fiscal years 2025-29. The capital improvement program centers on city structures, infrastructure, parks and recreation, public safety, stormwater, technology and public utilities.
