City of Fort Myers was notified of the Insurance Services Office’s recommendation to the Federal Emergency Management Agency to upgrade the city’s Community Rating System classification from a nine to a six for National Flood Insurance Program policyholder discounts. Nearly 6,000 city residents with policies issued under the NFIP will receive a 20% discount starting Oct. 1, versus the current 5% discount.
