The Collier County Board of Commissioners voted Jan. 14 to approve the contract for the Collier County Behavioral Health Center. Planned for 5 acres near David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health’s Bathey Lane campus off Golden Gate Parkway, just east of Interstate 75, the center will nearly triple the number of adults DLC can serve, including those requiring inpatient care through the Baker Act and Marchman Act and seniors with Medicare who need inpatient care. CEO Scott Burgess said that in the next few weeks, David Lawrence Centers will be conveying the land to the Collier County Behavioral Health Center without cost to the county in tandem with entering into an operating agreement. Construction is expected to begin in the first quarter of this year, he said. Construction will be fully funded with money raised through the voter-approved 2018 infrastructure sales surtax.
