Collier County accepted its second award from the State Housing Initiative Partnerships Hurricane Housing Recovery Program of $1.89 million. These state-level funds appropriated a total of $60 million in funding for Hurricane Ian and Nicole relief across 26 counties and address immediate recovery needs such as removal of debris, demolition of damaged structures and rental assistance. In May, the county approved its first SHIP hurricane recovery award in the amount of just less than $1 million.
