Discussion on South Seas resort

Lee County Commissioners approved a contract with Infinite Construction LLC to repair the fishing pier at Matlacha Community Park in the amount of $388,219. The fishing pier, a popular spot for tourists and anglers, is part of Matlacha Community Park along Matlacha Pass. It was built more than 50 years ago and was replaced in 2020 but sustained severe damage during Hurricane Ian. The vendor will remove and replace the deck and railings, benches, garbage cans, lighting and fish cleaning stations. The project will bring the pier back to its recently rebuilt condition and is expected to be open to the public by May 1, 2024.
