The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity has extended the application for funding through the Broadband Opportunity Program to Dec. 9. The extension will accommodate communities impacted by recent hurricanes by providing additional time to apply and will not affect the state’s timeline to issue awards. The Broadband Opportunity Program makes $400 million total available, awarded through grants of up to $5 million. The program funds the installation and deployment of broadband Internet infrastructure in unserved Florida communities, providing access to telehealth, economic, educational and workforce development opportunities for Floridians.
