Florida drivers pay the second highest amount, on average, for full coverage car insurance at $4,326 per year, making it the fourth most expensive state to own a car, according to a report from Forbes Advisor. The digital entity dedicated to helping consumers make strong financial choices analyzed gas prices, car repair costs, car insurance rates and monthly auto loan payments for all 50 states. In addition to an average gas price of $3.33 per gallon, car repairs cost Floridians an average of $396 annually. California and Nevada are tied for the most expensive places to own a car followed by Colorado.
