Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency signed a management agreement with Local Roots LLC for downtown’s River District Farmers Market. The market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays under the Caloosahatchee Bridge at 200 W. First St. River District Farmers Market was put on hold last fall after Hurricane Ian. Originally named Downtown Farmers Market and established in 1994, it is the oldest farmers market in Lee County. The CRA organized the farmers market to provide convenient and inexpensive market facilities for area vendors to sell their products directly to customers at reasonable prices. Now in its 16th year of business, Local Roots was established by business partners and Sanibel residents Betsy Ventura and Jean Baer. Products at Local Roots markets include fresh produce, organics, honey, cheese, meats, flowers, seafood, sweets, crafts, prepared foods and more.
