Florida Power & Light plans to make upgrades to enhance power grids in the Fort Myers and Naples areas throughout 2024 to avoid outages and allow it to restore power faster following severe weather. In Fort Myers, the company plans to strengthen eight main power lines, maintain trees and vegetation along 270 miles of power lines and inspect 6,124 power poles as part of an eight-year inspection cycle. In Naples, FPL is planning 11 Secure Underground Program projects to replace overhead neighborhood power lines with underground lines. It also will strengthen eight main power lines, maintain trees and vegetation along 133 miles of power lines and inspect 931 power poles as part of an eight-year inspection cycle.
