The Florida Department of Commerce awarded more than $2.9 million for long-term Hurricane Ian recovery, funding 25 projects in 19 communities, including the repair and hardening of an existing Greater Naples Fire Rescue District critical facility. These funds, allocated to the state through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Development Block Grant – Disaster Recovery Program, will assist local governments eligible for the Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, which requires a 25% local match. These funds aim to construct, rehabilitate and expand critical infrastructure to support recovery efforts in communities impacted by Hurricane Ian.
