Help A Diabetic Child, a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting local children and families dealing with diabetes, opened its inaugural Resource & Advocacy Center, 2800 Davis Blvd., Suite 107, in East Naples. This center offers various essential services by appointment only, including telemedicine visits, emotional and nutritional support services, information on patient assistance programs and pharmacy and health insurance resources, volunteer programs for high school and college students, on-site diabetic staff and a community outreach program. To kick off its outreach series and support group programs, Help A Diabetic Child will host an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 7.
