Lee Board of County Commissioners voted March 18 to award a $2.6 million contract to replace the splash pads at Lakes Regional Park, which were destroyed by Hurricane Ian.
The design-build contract with Gulfpoint Construction Company Inc. includes the completion of design, survey, permitting and construction. Gulfpoint Construction will demolish and remove existing damaged equipment and concrete pads to build new splash pads. Construction will include all concrete work, plumbing fixtures, electrical components, shade structures, water features, signage and fencing.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management Legislative Appropriations Program Fund will fund the project. Construction is expected to begin in April and be complete in about a year.
