Kevin Ruane

Lee Board of County Commissioners appointed Commission Chairman Kevin Ruane as chair of the Tourist Development Council. The chairmanship becomes effective immediately. Ruane’s first meeting as TDC chair will be Dec. 12. The District 1 commissioner was named chairman Nov. 19. He replaces TDC Chairman and Commissioner Cecil Pendergrass. Ruane was first elected as a county commissioner in November 2020 after serving as mayor of Sanibel for more than a decade. In 2024, he ran unopposed for his second term as District 1 commissioner. After Hurricane Ian, Commissioner Ruane was appointed by his fellow commissioners to chair the Lee County Long-term Recovery Task Force.
