Naples and Fort Myers were ranked in the top 10 destinations in the U.S. for snowbirds, according to a study from nationwide self-storage search website StorageCafe. The study analyzed and ranked 215 U.S. cities across 11 snowbird-friendly states. Coming in just behind top-ranked Venice, Vero Beach and Fort Pierce, No. 4 Naples has the highest share of vacant housing units marked for seasonal use (89%) among all those analyzed and ranks first for golf courses. The city also fares well regarding access to health services, having the largest number of medical organizations per 1,000 residents among the cities analyzed. The median rent in Naples is 6% higher compared to the state’s median rent, while the median house price is north of $1 million. Ninth-ranked Fort Myers is the largest Floridian city in the top 10 and is a destination for RVers, with 15 recreational vehicle parks available in the area.
