Board of Collier County Commissioners approved the approximately $5.5 million Park Shore Beach Renourishment Project on Dec. 10. County officials said the project is needed to replenish the beach that experiences natural erosion throughout the year and was affected by hurricanes Debby, Helene and Milton. The beach is designed to be a standard 85-foot width from the dune line to Mean High Water Line to provide residents and tourists with storm protection and recreational space.

Once contract processing is finalized, the contractor will mobilize crews for surveying the beach and then sand hauling should begin in early January 2025. Project completion is expected around mid-to-late February. The funds have been allocated from Tourist Development Tax funds with anticipated partial reimbursement from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Sand is being sourced from Stewart Materials in Immokalee. Approximately 167,700 tons of sand is expected to be needed. The project limits are from about 1,000 feet north of Naples Cay to near Lausanne Condominiums.
