Lee Department of Transportation gave a design presentation of the Cape Coral Bridge project to Cape Coral City Council. The project is in its early design phase, proposing possible changes to the intersection at Del Prado Boulevard, bicycle pedestrian accommodations and electronic tolls. Additionally, the widening of the eastbound bridge and rebuilding of the westbound bridge over the river is expected. The project spans 2.3 miles, beginning at McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers to Del Prado in southeast Cape Coral. The DOT will be taking public comment into consideration, as a website for the bridge is under development. The bridge is expected to be paid for through bridge toll revenues.
