Cape Coral was named the top destination in the U.S. for snowbirds in 2025, according to a study by Retirement Living, which compiles data from across the country for resources that provide health, excitement and stability for retirees. The Retirement Living research team compared all U.S. cities across three weighted categories — affordability, climate and community. The study states Cape Coral has the highest percentage of residents older than 60 (32.42%), second-highest number of golf courses per 1,000 people and second- and third-lowest violent and property crime rates, respectively. The Lee County city also earned the sixth-highest climate score due to its sixth-highest average temperatures (67.2 degrees) and seventh-highest percentage of clear days between November and March (64.2%, or 96 clear days). Rounding out the top five destinations for snowbirds were El Paso and Laredo in Texas, Port St. Lucie and Augusta, Georgia.
