Sanibel City Council passed an ordinance authorizing the city manager to establish speed limits for Class 1 e-bikes on shared-use paths on the island. In addition, the age limit for e-bike riders was reduced from 18 to 16. Class 2 e-bikes, equipped with pedal assist but unlike a Class 1 bike, have an added throttle, will not be permitted on shared-use paths, WINK News reports.
