Florida’s economy is ranked seventh in the U.S., according to a new study by personal finance website WalletHub. In order to determine which states are pulling the most weight in moving the U.S. economy forward, WalletHub compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across 28 key indicators of economic performance and strength. The data set ranges from GDP growth and the unemployment rate to startup activity and the share of jobs in high-tech industries. With an overall score of 55.75, Florida ranked first in startup activity, second in change in nonfarm payrolls and economic health, fourth in economic activity and 31st in innovation potential rank. Washington state was first in the state economic rankings, followed by Utah, Massachusetts, Texas and California.
