City of Cape Coral, city of Bonita Springs, village of Estero and unincorporated Lee County were notified that the Federal Emergency Management Agency will maintain their ratings and National Flood Insurance Program policyholder discounts after providing requested and required documentation to the agency, local officials announced. FEMA determined residents from those areas with policies issued under the NFIP will maintain the discount rate of 25%. In March, FEMA initially announced plans to retrograde those discounts, highlighting concerns related to the floodplain management. Lee County and the municipalities submitted a corrective action plan prior to the Nov. 18 deadline.
