Construction of the new Hampton Inn expected to open in the fall in downtown Fort Myers is sprinting along. Sarasota-based construction management firm Firmo Construction celebrated the topping off Tuesday of the four-story, 118-room Hilton-brand hotel at the corner of Cleveland Avenue and McGregor Boulevard.
Firmo along with hospitality and development group HOS Management, subcontractors, construction crew and project contributors participated in the tree-topping ceremony marking the last beam being placed at the full height of the building.
One of downtown’s newest urban hospitality projects, the 65,000-square-foot building on a 2-acre lot will be an infill lot development that will be open to guests later this year. It will feature an outdoor pool and patio area, a flexible board room for use and a fitness center.
The city of Fort Myers approved the project for a $1.9 million tax increment financing rebate.
Firmo also is renovating Hotel Indigo, which will be rebranded to Tapestry Collection, a boutique brand from Hilton. The eight-story, 67-room building at 1520 Broadway Ave. is undergoing a floor-by-floor renovation.
