The newly renovated Wiggins Pass Chalet boutique hotel in North Naples recently relaunched after more than a five-year hiatus.

The local 14-suite hotel is owned by Fort Myers resident Lee McWethy and his two sons, Austin and Collin, who live in Bonita Springs. The family recently renovated the three-story property inside and out. The McWethys, originally from the Chicago area, purchased the 0.36-acre parcel in April 2020 for $1.7 million, Collier County property records show.

Operated as an inn for many years, the business formerly was an all-suites vacation rental and a boutique apartment hotel but, until this year, had not operated since 2016, said Austin McWethy, one of the managers of the hotel.

“The unparalleled personalized services to each guest is what sets us apart,” McWethy said. “It’s such a small boutique hotel that you really get the personalized interaction.”

The hotel has two 550-square-foot Garden Studio rooms on the ground floor and six suites along exterior corridors on both its second and third floors. Suites, which range from 610 to 700 square feet, each have a bedroom separate from a living and dining area, a full kitchen, bathroom, closet and a private screened exterior balcony. In addition, the three options for accommodations include the Presidential Suite, the largest offered at the hotel, which sleeps four guests and features a king-size bed, a pull-out couch and an area with a desk for working remotely.

Recent renovation work began in April 2021 and was completed earlier this year. In addition to new facade improvements, new areas were created for the lobby, reception area, lounge, amenities and office space. Recent interior renovation work replaced the units’ appliances, cabinets, counters, vanities, plumbing fixtures, windows and sliding glass doors, plans show.

Bonita Springs-based Home Works was the general contractor on the renovation project, designed by CB Architects and RDA Consulting Engineers, both of Naples. Site and utility work was completed by Bradanna and Jensen Underground, respectively, also both of Naples.

The multifamily commercial building, which includes covered parking, was built in 1981 on the corner of Wiggins Pass and Center Lane. The property at 844 Wiggins Pass Road is across from Gateway Shoppes at North Bay, the retail center on the corner of Wiggins Pass Road and U.S. 41.
